Enzo Pifferi - 5 Libri fotografici su Milano – Prime...

Splendid and exclusive lot consisting of 5 photographic volumes dedicated to the city of Milan, its architecture, its landscapes, its people, its atmospheres, produced by the famous Milanese photographer Enzo Pifferi (Editrice E.P.I./Enzo Pifferi Editore). The lot stands out for an exceptional collectible peculiarity: all 5 volumes are autographed by the photographer. In addition, all volumes are first editions, complete with illustrated editorial dust jackets (where provided) and kept in excellent condition. Therefore, it presents a unique lot for collectors of fine photography, Lombard local history, and autographed first editions. Enzo Pifferi (Milan, 1940) is a photographer and journalist who was also a special envoy for documenting events of great significance worldwide. In 1974 he expanded his activity becoming a publisher, and to this day he has published hundreds of photographic books linked to the Lombard territory. Other of his internationally oriented books include: Transiberiana, Cina, Ande, Berlino, New York, I Luoghi della Bibbia, Il Mondo della Lana. The spectacular images, the high-quality printing, and the careful editing make the books of Enzo Pifferi Editore elegant and very suggestive, - "Milano" (1977). Texts by Gianni Brera, photographs by Enzo Pifferi. Hardcover edition with dust jacket. Rarity note: the volume still preserves its extremely rare promotional slip. The Italian text is translated into English, German, and French. There are 161 photographs. Pages: 202 "Milano è Milano" (1983). Texts by Carlo Castellaneta (famed Milanese writer and journalist), photographs by Enzo Pifferi. Hardcover edition with dust jacket. The Italian text is translated into English and German. There are 115 photographs. Pages: 160 - "Il Duomo - Milano anno Domini 1386" (1986). Texts by Giorgio Bocca (famed journalist and writer), photographs by Enzo Pifferi. The history of the cathedral written in Italian at the beginning of the volume is reported in English, German, and French at the end of the book. Hardcover edition with dust jacket. In addition to Pifferi’s photographs, there are, at the beginning of the text, some beautiful reproductions of old engravings. Pages: 100 - "I Navigli di Leonardo" (1982). Texts by Gigio Bazoli, with dozens of period photographs selected by Enzo Pifferi and some reproductions of drawings by Leonardo da Vinci. Tweed binding edition with a beautiful illustration applied to the front board (this particular edition did not include a dust jacket). Pages: 96 - "Da Milano lungo i Navigli" (1987). Text by various authors, photographs by Enzo Pifferi. Hardcover edition with dust jacket. The photographs are 122. The presentation and captions are also translated into English. Pages: 156 Book conditions: interior in perfect condition, fresh, clean pages, free of foxing, stains, creases, or tears. The volume "Milano è Milano" has a two-page (four-leaf) photographic insert before the frontispiece detached from binding, but still in excellent condition. The book on the Duomo, in addition to Pifferi’s signature, has, in the flyleaf, a dedication and signatures evidently from someone who gifted the autographed copy. The exterior of all volumes is in generally excellent condition. The dust jackets show only slight and negligible signs of time and use occasionally, which do not compromise their aesthetics. The photographs are an important and integral part of the description, so please view them carefully before bidding. And please note that, although they were taken carefully with natural light, the actual item may appear slightly different in color due to environmental lighting conditions or the settings of your monitor or screen.
