Graduated in mathematics, she is a teacher first and then a school principal. Passionate about art since girlhood, she pursued studies that apparently distance her from this world, until she finally decides to wholeheartedly embrace her passion. For many years she attended the “Libera Accademia” of Maestro Paolo Raffa in her city and, at the same time, courses and master’s programs in various parts of Italy. The fundamental turning point was the meeting with Maestro Roberto Ferri, who brought her closer to a painting she had always aspired to. She later developed a passion for sculpture, following Maestro Mohammad Sazesh in his Carrara studio. She eventually refined her skills at the Academy of Art in Florence. In 2019 she was a signatory in Rome along with 12 other artists of the Manifesto of Effettism, a painting movement founded by Maestro Franco Fragale. In 2020 she joined the International Academy of Modern Art in Rome. A versatile artist, never conventional nor repetitive, she rejects any predefined schema, fluidly ranging from classical figurative to modern, from abstract to informal, from symbolism to the conceptual. -- By Vittorio Sgarbi -- The task Elvira Sirio has set for herself is to create emotions. The shaping of matter into creatures and subjects of her own imagination, with particular attention to the female world, leads us to talk about Metamorphosis. With sculpture half woman and half reptile, we confront a magical being that elevates the bond between woman and Mother Earth through a serpentiform depiction that, for cultural reasons now rooted in the common imagination, induces a certain discomfort. Change is linked to the divine (of which the heterochromia of the eyes is symbolic), but perceived as something sinister and unsettling. Sirio is incredibly timely: how is the woman perceived today and what powers does she have? Vittorio Sgarbi
