Elegant Diamond and Pearl Pendant in White Gold, c. 1925

How richly nature presents us with gifts - and what opportunities it offers to turn its gifts into something special, into a work of art! This topos about the relationship between nature and art, which has been handed down from antiquity, may also have crossed the mind of the anonymous goldsmith who created this large pendant at the beginning of the 1920s. The design begins with a row of sparkling diamonds. In total, more than one carat of white diamonds are set here in old cuts. They set the loop and continue below in a vertical row. The larger stones are set individually in frames. The largest stone, which weighs around 0.65 ct, is further accentuated by a shadow gap and a surrounding polished frame. Below the largest diamond, the design widens into a double frame. It surrounds a movable pendulum that holds a large, shimmering gray-white pearl. It is a genuine natural pearl. The goldsmith's work is made of high-carat white gold. Three very different materials are used, whose common feature is their non-color white: diamonds, the pearl and the white gold. They are similar and yet different, one with a hard shine, the other with a fiery sparkle, and the pearl with its velvety luster. The result is a varied winter melody - in jewelry form. The pendant was created in the 1920s, as evidenced by its workmanship and design. We discovered it in Hamburg. It is accompanied by an independent expert opinion on the quality of the materials.
