This delicate necklace shines bright and white in the light of diamonds, natural pearls and precious platinum. Delicate, organically inspired curves form the basic structure of the design, which is surrounded by loose garlands and a sparkling blossom. Sparkling diamonds occupy every possible spot; two shimmering pearls swing in gentle motion along the central axis. The delicate necklace was created shortly after 1900. All-white jewellery with diamonds in platinum was the standard for high-quality jewels at the time. A look at the catalogs of contemporary jewellers such as Kind & Sons from Philadelphia or Bansse from Paris reveals very similar designs. The shapes vary, but they are very similar. The design of the necklace combines modern influences of two styles. The garlands and the flower correspond to the modern style guirlande, an elegant classicism inspired by the Rococo. The elegant lines of the central form also show the influence of Art Nouveau. They are drawn with a light hand, and triangular areas for the diamonds are typically formed at the tips of the arches. The fact that the design retains a clear symmetry despite its dynamism suggests that it was created in Central Europe rather than France. And indeed, the necklace, made of warm red gold, is also marked with the brand of the Berlin jeweler Wilhelm Müller, whose business premises in Gertraudenstraße in Mitte are still preserved today. We discovered the beautiful piece of jewellery in the Netherlands.
