EGYPTIAN STONE SCARAB WITH CONCENTRIC CIRCLES IN SWIVEL GOLD RING

Middle Kingdom, ca. 2055 - 1790 BC. A pale stone scarab with a convex back, incised wing cases and a schematically carved head. The flat underside is engraved with seven concentric ring-and-dot motifs, linked by short lines and enclosed within an oval border. The scarab revolves on a transverse pin between the terminals of a hallmarked 18K gold ring with a rounded hoop and tightly coiled wire collars.
