Education/demonstration model - Composite - 1930-1940...

Didactic Anatomical Masterpiece – Didacta / Aug. Bossaerts et Fils, Antwerp – circa 1930 Rare and spectacular educational model of equine anatomy, created for veterinary and agricultural instruction, coming from the Antwerp house Didacta – Aug. Bossaerts et Fils, specialists in school and scientific equipment. The horse is presented on its substantial original base. Part of the body reveals a particularly detailed representation of internal anatomy: skeleton, spine, thoracic cage, skull, musculature and organs, with numerous elements individualized and numbered for pedagogical purposes. The opposite side restores the exterior anatomy of the horse with remarkable naturalistic modeling, notably showing the muscular structure and the ribs beneath the skin. The base retains its rare original label, partially missing but still legible: "DIDACTA … / AUG. BOSSAERTS ET FILS / ANVERS". Documentary research identifies Aug. Bossaerts as a supplier of school furniture and equipment in Antwerp, 142 Avenue de Belgique. The firm is documented in 1931 as the publisher of the periodical Matériel scolaire moderne, and still listed at this address in the Antwerp directory of 1933. Belgium, Antwerp, circa 1925-1940, probably circa 1930. Model made of molded and polychromed composite materials, mounted on a painted wooden base. The various anatomical structures bear their original pedagogical numbering. The base also bears an old handwritten inventory number “I.C. 13-63-009,” indicating likely former use within an educational institution or a pedagogical collection. Good overall condition given its age and function. Wear, rubbing, small chips and alterations of polychromy, particularly visible on the base, in keeping with educational hardware that has seen use. Manufacturer label partially missing. See the numerous detailed photographs. Rare and particularly decorative piece, interesting both for a collection of scientific and educational instruments, for veterinary history, or for a cabinet of curiosities. The photos are an integral part of the object description and complement its presentation. Please examine them carefully before placing a bid. The item will be carefully packed and shipped with tracking number to ensure fast and secure delivery. Happy bidding
