Captain: Height: 32 cm | Max diameter: 11.5 cm • Large Matryoshka (9 pieces): Height of the largest: 19 cm x 8.5 cm • Large Imperial Egg (1994): Height: 12.5 cm x 6 cm The lot is in decent condition with some missing parts and wear signs; see photos, I’m not hiding anything... • General Condition: Good vintage overall condition, the pieces retain superb colors and a lot of freshness. • Wear: Normal use traces and patina of time visible. We note a few light chips or superficial varnish cracks at the joints of the large matryoshkas as well as on the base of the vase (see detailed photos). No major wood cracks to report, and the nesting mechanism of all the interlocking pieces works perfectly. • Decoration: The vase body is adorned with remarkable marquetry work in rye straw inlay forming rich floral motifs of chrysanthemums and daisies, offering natural golden highlights under light. Series of Interlocking Eggs “Imperial & Religious” – Signed and Dated 1994 • Artist: E. Tomakhova (Е. Томахова), handwritten signature in gold letters under the base. • Dating: 1994 (post-Soviet Russia). • Iconography: • The largest egg proudly bears the Imperial Emblems of Russia (the double-headed eagle with Saint George slaying the dragon in its heart). • The middle egg features a beautiful religious icon also painted with Saint George on his white horse. • The smallest egg repeats the three colors of the Russian tricolor flag with a miniature equestrian scene Series of Classic Interlocking Dolls (Matryoshkas) – 9 Pieces • Origin: USSR (c. 1970 - 1980) • Details: Complete and rare series of 9 nestable wooden dolls. They display the traditional graphic style of the era with a thick glossy varnish and aprons decorated with geometric diamond and checkerboard patterns accented with gold.
