Many illustrations (including some in color), maps. This study of Songye sculpture documents and examines in detail the function and symbolism of masks and figures. The stylistic characteristics of Songye art are analyzed and related to the type and function of the sculptures, as well as the importance of their cultural role. An attempt to classify the sculpture according to its regional origins is also proposed. This work makes a significant contribution to filling the gap in information on the ethnographic and symbolic function of Songye art. Very good condition.
