Ducrot - Ducrot - Nightstand (2) - Wood

Very rare and elegant pair of nightstands or bedside tables with a raised top, marble top and inlays – Ducrot Manufacture, late 19th - early 20th century Lotto description: Splendid and perfectly matched pair of antique nightstands or bedside tables, made at the cusp of the late 19th and early 20th century by the famous Ducrot manufactory. A set of the highest quality and great visual impact, testament to the Italian cabinetmaking excellence of the period. The furniture feature a refined wavy line (on both the front and the sides) that reveals the artisanal mastery in woodworking, enriched by luxurious details and by a design of clear classical lineage. Main characteristics: Manufacture: Authentic piece produced in the Ducrot workshops, a reference point for Italian art furniture and design between the 19th and 20th centuries. Raised top and tops: Each nightstand is topped by a substantial raised crown with a shaped cimasa and delicate geometric and floral inlays. The surface accommodates a precious inlaid black veined marble insert, perfectly flush to follow the contour of the wood. Inlays and Decorations: On the frieze and on the lower door stand remarkable inlays in mixed woods and burr with the typical central motif of the classical urn surrounded by floral festoons. Hardware and Construction: Equipped with a subtop drawer with a finely chased ring handle and a lower door with original period hardware, it’s a pity that the labels are no longer visible due to the years. They rest on elegant saber legs, enriched by terminal bronze applications chased with foliate motifs. Ideal for luxury interior design: For their extraordinary formal elegance, refined inlays and sophisticated line, these nightstands are superb for enhancing not only prestigious private residences but also high-end interior design projects, boutique hotels, suites in historic hotels or representative residences, instantly imparting a warm and timeless authoritative atmosphere. Condition and Restoration Notes: The set is in good overall condition, coherent with the era and use. The wood preserves a magnificent warm and original patina. The furniture show the normal and fascinating signs of time lived: they can be left as they are, fully valorizating the living line, authenticity and the decades-long history of the materials, or can be magnificently suited to a light and targeted conservative restoration for those who want an impeccably finished, highly polished look. Normal signs of use are present and do not compromise the beauty or structural integrity of the pieces (please carefully review all attached detailed photographs).
