Ducrot - Ducrot - Nightstand (2) - Wood

Very rare and elegant pair of nightstands or bedside tables with a raised back, marble top, and inlays – Ducrot production, late 19th - early 20th century Lot description: Splendid and perfectly matched pair of antique nightstands or bedside tables, made around the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century by the renowned Ducrot manufactory. A set of the utmost quality and striking visual impact, evidence of the Italian cabinetmaking excellence of the period. The furniture features a refined curved line (on the front and sides) that reveals the craftsmanship in woodworking, enriched with luxurious details and a design of clear classical roots. Main features: Manufacture: An authentic work produced in the Ducrot facilities, an indispensable reference point for artistic furniture and Italian design between the 19th and 20th centuries. Raised back and tops: Each nightstand is topped by a substantial raised back with a shaped crest and delicate geometric and floral inlays. The top accommodates a prized veined black marble insert, perfectly fitted to follow the contours of the wood. Inlays and decorations: The top panel and the lower door feature extraordinary inlays in mixed woods and burl with the typical central motif of the classical urn surrounded by floral garlands. Hardware and construction: Equipped with a lower under-top drawer with a finely chased ring pull and with a lower door with original contemporary hardware, though the labels are no longer visible due to the passage of years. They rest on elegant saber-shaped legs, enhanced by terminal applications in cast bronze with foliate motifs. Ideal for luxury interior design: For their extraordinary formal elegance, refined inlays, and sophisticated line, these nightstands are superb for enhancing not only prestigious private residences but also high-level interior designs, boutique charm hotels, suites in historic hotels, or representative homes, instantly imparting a warm and timeless authoritativeness. Condition and restoration notes: The set is presented in good overall condition, consistent with the era and use. The wood preserves a magnificent warm, original patina. The furniture shows the normal and fascinating signs of the time lived: they can be left as they are, fully valorizando the liveliness of the line, authenticity, and the decades-long history of the materials, or can magnificently undergo a light and targeted conservation-restoration intervention for those who desire an impeccable showroom finish. There are normal signs of use that in no way compromise the beauty or structural integrity of the pieces (please carefully review all attached detailed photographs).
