This object is a water dropper for calligraphy (also called a water dropper or 水注, shuǐzhù in Chinese), finely shaped in the form of a lotus capsule or seedpod (蓮蓬, liánpéng), complete with protruding seeds on the upper part and stylized petals along the body. It is made of porcelain or stoneware with a distinctive monochrome cream-colored glaze featuring a dense network of crazing.
