Todas las subastas / Varios / Drinking service (7) - The services 1860-1890 - Porcelain...
Antique 7-piece porcelain tête-à-tête – turquoise chinoiserie – circa 1860–1890 Elegant and unusual 19th-century tête-à-tête served for two people, crafted in fine white porcelain with a soft turquoise-blue ground color. The service is richly decorated with extremely fine, darkly outlined Oriental-inspired floral, foliate, and ornament motifs. The decoration winds like an elegant ribbon across the various pieces and is combined with subtle floral elements. Fine gilded accents along the rims, spouts, and knob coverings complete the set. The characteristic rounded forms of the teapot and sugar pot, the elegant tall milk jug, and especially the gracefully shaped handles give the dinnerware a refined appearance. The tête-à-tête was a small, luxurious service specifically designed for serving tea or coffee to two people. Even among important European porcelain manufacturers, such ensembles appeared in the 19th century with a teapot, sugar pot, milk jug, and two cups with saucers. The service consists of 7 pieces: teapot with lid, sugar pot with lid, milk jug, two cups, and two accompanying saucers. No factory mark found. Datable on stylistic and technical grounds to the second half of the 19th century, circa 1860–1890. Likely French origin. Dimensions (as example, teapot): Height: 14 cm Width: 14 cm Depth: 12 cm The ensemble is in beautiful antique condition for its age, with normal signs of aging and use and localized wear to the gilding. One of the two saucers has two small chips at the rim, clearly visible in the photos. Otherwise, it presents exceptionally well. A charming and decorative well-preserved tête-à-tête from the second half of the 19th century, appealing both as a collectible and for display in a historic interior. Carefully packed and shipped.
