Lot of three beautifully decorative woodcarvings. All from the Hindu Ramayana epic. Bali, Indonesia, circa 1960-1970 Panel one shows a traditionally hand-carved Balinese wooden relief panel in 3D that appears to depict a scene from the Hindu Ramayana epic, presumably Rama and Sita in a lush forest setting with a traditional Balinese gate (candi bentar) in the background. Panel two shows wood carving originating from Indonesia or India, probably made in the second half of the 20th century. The panel depicts a well-known scene from the Hindu epic Ramayana: the legendary struggle between the mythical bird king Jatayu and the demon king Ravana. What is depicted? • Jatayu (the bird): The large bird with detailed wings and plumage tries to rescue Princess Sita. He attacks the kidnapper with his beak. • Ravana (the demon): The crowned figure in traditional Balinese dress and jewelry fights fiercely back against the attack of the mythical bird. Panel three is a splendid example of a traditional Balinese wood carving, probably from the mid-20th century, handmade from a tropical hardwood, and depicts a Naga with a priest?
