Original Japanese woodblock print - Dragon fly - Kōno Bairei (1844-1895) - Japan - 1892 Dimensions: 26 cm x 21 cm Condition and state of the print: The Japanese print is generally in good and well-preserved condition. The paper is still firm and feels solid. In the middle there is a light crease, but this does not appear to have a serious impact on the paper quality. The colors are still good and clearly visible and have retained much of their original appearance. There are no major damages noted aside from the occasional spots (see photo). All in all, a nicely preserved Japanese print with a good appearance. Artist: Kōno Bairei (1844–1895) was an important Japanese artist from the Meiji period. He was especially known for his refined depictions of birds, flowers, and other natural subjects. His style is characterized by fine lines, subtle colors, and great attention to detail. Bairei was also an influential teacher and had several well-known artists as pupils. His work is still appreciated today and can be found in major museum collections. Shipping: The woodblock print is carefully and securely packaged to protect it during transport. The print is shipped by registered mail and provided with a Track & Trace code, so the shipment can be tracked throughout its journey.
