Todas las subastas / Medallas, armas & armaduras / Dr. Albert Churchward - Signs and Symbols of Primordial Man - 1913
'While it is frequently categorized or sold alongside occult books due to its heavy focus on ancient mysticism, sacred geometry, and esoteric history, the book's core objective is explicitly anchored in Masonic historiography.' Dedication: 'This work to all my brother Masons in whatever clime and whatever creed who believe in and acknowledge the One Great Architect of the Universe.' Contents (strongly abridged summary, see the photos of the contents pages): Freemasonry generally, signs found the Mayas, Mexicans, Egyptians, Assyrians, etc., Masonic sign, Australians and other tribes, Totemism, Druids, Egyptians, Incas, Buddhists, Japanese, Jews and Moses, etc/ etc. With 19 full-page plates and 175 text illustrations. In the original binding. This is the second edition of 1913 (first edition 1910) - 501 pp. - 25 x 16 cm. Condition: Good+. The spine has faded and the back cover has color loss. Otherwise a good+ copy of a rare work. 'Written by a Masonic Historian: Albert Churchward was a dedicated, high-ranking British Freemason ("the Craft"). He wrote the book primarily to trace the historical origins of Masonic rituals, symbols, and architecture. Focus on Masonic Tools: He uses comparative archaeology to argue that core Masonic symbols—such as the square and compasses, the tessellated pavement, the double axe, and the three pillars (Wisdom, Strength, and Beauty)—originated in ancient Egypt and the rituals of gods like Horus and Ptah.'
