Dish - Spelter

Splendid and impressive centerpiece or serving plate (or decorative wall shield) in solid bronze. The object stands out for excellent metallurgical quality and an artistic casting (lost-wax or earth) of notable thickness, evidenced by the substantial weight of over 2.9 kg. At the center of the plate, in the cavetto, there is a refined dynamic composition with relief anthropomorphic figures, interpretable as classical allegorical-mythological scenes, in particular a dance of cherubs and nymphs. The middle band of the rim features a heavily decorated geometric-vegetal ornament. The rich outer edge has a sinuous flow and is punctuated by expressive grotesques, fruit festoons, and globular elements that create an exceptional chiaroscural effect. The back is intentionally rough from casting, further confirming authenticity and the era’s technique. A superb testament to historicism and the Italian Neo-Renaissance of the late nineteenth century. The beautiful natural dark patina shows slight and fascinating traces of oxidation in the recesses of the relief, which enhance its antiquity. This is a piece with a great dramatic impact, ideal for high-end interior decoration or for collecting art bronzes. Dimensions: diameter 36.5 cm, thickness about 4.0 cm, weight 2930 grams. It is sold as seen, please carefully view the gallery photographs, which are an integral part of the description, in order to avoid any unpleasant misunderstandings. Careful packaging and tracked shipping.
