Dinner set - Ménagère de service 5 pièces en Argent...

Elegant Art Nouveau period table service box (late 19th - early 20th century), comprising a salad service and a leg/roast carving service (4 pieces in total) presented in their original case and an added service spoon (powdering spoon / cream or ice cream spoon) consisting of: • Salad service (2 pieces): A large spoon and a large fork. The handles are made of ivorine (an early high-quality synthetic material imitating ivory), designed to protect the metal from the acidity of dressings. • Carving/roast service (2 pieces): A large 3-tooth meat fork in steel and a leg/roast tongs with a screwable mechanism (allowing the bone of the leg to be held firmly during carving). • Service spoon (1 piece): A large serving spoon (powdering spoon / cream or ice cream spoon) with a superb wide bowl, fluted and finely chiselled with vegetal motifs. All pieces bear the Minerva hallmark 1st Title guaranteeing 950 silver; the ivorine/celluloid pieces have been needle-tested to ensure they are not ivory, with the exception of the sugar spoon which is 800 silver. Happy bidding to all As with all my items put up for auction on this site, this marvel has undergone no cleaning (just dusting), nor modification since purchase. Please look carefully at the photos that form part of the description. Any damage not mentioned in the text but visible in the photos is considered described. No shipping outside the EU; if you are outside the European Union you may bid on one of my lots however no claim will be possible in case of problems during transport. Given the new import/export regulations to the USA there will be no shipping to that country anymore. Careful professional shipping, with signature on delivery and insurance.
