Purchased in 2010 from a gallery Dieuseul Paul was born in 1952 in Damiens, Haiti, and died in July 2006. He was a founding member of the Saint-Soleil group, one of the most important movements in Haitian art, internationally recognized and supported by André Malraux. Dieuseul Paul began painting in 1974 and quickly developed a powerful visual language, rooted in spirituality and symbolism. His work reflects the expressive and intuitive approach of the Saint-Soleil movement and often explores themes related to voodoo, nature, and inner vision. His paintings have been published in major journals, including Haiti: Art Naïf, Art Vodou (1988), Where Art Is Joy by Selden Rodman (1988), and Dialogue du Réel et de l’Imaginaire (1990), underscoring his importance in Haitian art. Today, Dieuseul Paul’s works are highly sought after by collectors for their spiritual depth, their expressive power, and their key role in the Saint-Soleil movement.
