Mintmaster: Johan Friedrich Freund (IFF). Engraver: Johannes Conradsen (IC). This piece has been made by joining an obverse and a reverse off-strike in pewter. Of the highest numismatic importance. This exceptional tin pattern of Freund's new "invention" to strengthen international trade, the so-called d'or coins, is highly interesting as it bears the date 1825 - the year before the first gold coins were struck. However, the King had already approved the coinage on 9 August 1825. In light of this, it is not surprising that Freund, even at that early stage, had requested the highly skilled Copenhagen medalist Johannes Conradsen to prepare pattern dies.
