Some time ago, we were lucky enough to be able to purchase a large collection of tourmalines and beryls that had been lying dormant in the warehouse of a gemstone dealer in Stockholm since the 1950s. Our goldsmiths designed a ring that presents one of these gemstones accompanied by six diamonds: Made from sustainable materials with diamonds that also already brought their own history with them - and thus to give the historic materials a new lease of life. When we discovered a small collection of fire opals from Mexico, we couldn't resist and also had these stones set into the delicate ring. Unlike opals from Australia, which usually have a milky color with colorful iridescent inclusions, fire opals tend to be transparent and fiery red-orange. The Maya and Aztecs were already familiar with this stone and called it the "stone of the bird of paradise", believing that such a fiery gemstone could only have been created in paradise. The intense, luminous color of fire opals is a completely new variation in this collection of rings. This is the first time they have been part of a piece of jewellery. As with all rings in this series, the gold and diamonds are sustainably sourced. They come from pieces of jewellery whose preservation unfortunately no longer allowed them to be restored. But here, in a new form, they too can begin a new life. We like this ring because it is straightforward and allows the beautiful gemstone to take precedence. It can also be combined wonderfully.
