Deep Purple

These four groups were absolute giants during the heyday of hard rock and classic rock. They were known for their powerful, loud sound, with a strong emphasis on guitar riffs and driving rhythm sections. Each of these acts was defined by iconic guitar styles. Ritchie Blackmore of Deep Purple, Randy Bachman of BTO, Mick Box of Uriah Heep, and Alvin Lee himself were known for their lightning-fast solos and heavy guitar riffs, which formed the blueprint for later metal and rock bands.
