David Law (1967) - Private Worlds IX

David Law Photographer-Artist – Creator of contemporary imagery A multidisciplinary photographer-artist, author and musician, David Law develops work focused on gaze, presence and the perception of the image in the urban space. He first came to prominence with a series devoted to storefront mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and overlays. This exploration of gaze and presence gave rise to an art book published in 2021. Later drawn to the distinctive aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he continues this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate models acquire a troubling, almost living presence, challenging our relationship to illusion and projection. New Series – Private Worlds In a repetitive façade where each window becomes a world, light reveals fragments of silent lives. Behind each colored square, simple gestures — almost invisible — tell of intimacy, waiting and isolation. No gaze crosses; no story intersects. A collection of contemporary solitudes, enclosed within their own luminous frames. This series was conceived using contemporary visual-creation workflows, employing graphic tools and current digital composition techniques. Career Since 2014, David Law participates in around twenty contemporary art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the exclusive photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. Alongside his visual activity, he develops authorial and musical work including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a graphic novel, a photobook and 5 self-produced CDs. As a singer-guitarist he is currently performing with the band FRENZY. Edition & Production Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies + 4 artist's proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. The prints are made on aluminum with an integrated rear mounting. Printed on luminous white vinyl, mounted between two aluminum plates, with soft UV- and humidity-resistant lamination, ensuring excellent durability, long-term resistance, color stability and a modern, contemporary look.
