An extraordinary original photograph by David Bailey from 1972, showing Andy Warhol in a personal and immediate moment. The back is signed by David Bailey with black felt-tip pen and labeled. About the work: This is a one-off color Polaroid – a unique piece. Unlike a later reproduced photograph, the Polaroid produces a single photographic image immediately after the shot. It is this direct character that gives the portrait a special immediacy. Warhol appears calm and contemplative; the soft light and restrained color palette underscore the spontaneous, intimate aesthetics of early Polaroid photography. The Polaroid Type 100 is on the original Polaroid photo carrier. Framing: The Polaroid is professionally presented in a custom-made, acid-free mat in a vintage wooden frame. Many personalities from art, music, film and fashion have stood before his lens, including Mick Jagger, Jean Shrimpton and Andy Warhol. His unmistakable celebrity portraits and fashion photographs made Bailey himself an icon of his generation.
