We present to you a superb gouache on paper representing an imaginary garden populated with flowers, foliage and architectures, by Daniel Louradour (1930-2007). This lush composition combines exuberant vegetation, stylized flowers, a greenhouse or architecture in the background, and decorative elements inspired by the fairy-tale world. The fine lines, blue, green and yellow tones, and the overlays of motifs create a poetic and dreamlike universe. Daniel Louradour (1930–2007) was a renowned French artist, painter, illustrator, lithographer and scenographer. Born in Nanterre, he quickly made his mark on the art world with a style imbued with romance and fantasy, subtly oscillating between Surrealism and poetry. His unique talent manifested itself especially through the creation of décors and costumes for theater, opera and cinema. In the 1960s and 1970s he collaborated on major productions, bringing his baroque and fairy-tale vision to the stage. A master of gouache, watercolor and lithography, he also illustrated prestigious works of French literature. His paintings capture dreamlike and mysterious universes that continue to fascinate and inspire art lovers. In parallel with his creation, he devoted himself to teaching and transmitted his knowledge during the last twenty years of his life, training numerous generations of young visual artists and production designers, sharing his unique mastery of working in three dimensions. Today, his costume maquettes, drawings and watercolors are regularly sought after and exchanged at auctions. A complete monograph tracing his entire career helps rediscover the richness and diversity of his aesthetic quest. His work remains a vibrant testament to the decorative creativity of the 20th century, driven by a keen sense of color and theatrical detail. He died in 2007 in Paris, leaving behind a multidisciplinary artistic legacy of immense sensitivity.
