Magnificent publisher’s binding from the late 19th century in richly ornate red percaline, containing the famous adaptation of Daniel Defoe's masterpiece: The Little Robinson Crusoe. ** Description & Content : Published in Paris by Librairie Théodore Lefèvre and Émile Guérin, this prize- and youth-volume offers an illustrated edition of Robinson Crusoe's adventures. The book features a stunning engraved frontispiece depicting Robinson in traditional dress (“I had donned my best suit”) as well as several engravings and vignettes off-texte illustrating key moments of the tale. ** Condition: - Binding / Casework: In excellent, fresh condition. The first board and the spine show gold tooling and black decorations impeccably preserved, with no major fading. The second board retains its cold-iron stamps and its publisher’s roundel are very neat. Corners and headbands are well preserved. - Interior: Complete with text and illustrations. Period paper with scattered foxing of no reading-impairing significance, text block firmly attached to its binding. Original speckled edges. A particularly attractive copy, easy to handle thanks to its pocket-size format from the era.
