Crucifix - Brass - 1880-1920 - Elegant standing crucifix

Elegant standing crucifix with a halo of rays and Mary with Child – on a round, stepped base A characterful crucifix where restrained design meets distinctive religious details. The warm gold color, clover-shaped ends to the arms and the broad, stepped foot give this standing crucifix a balanced and stylish appearance. At the center is a separately mounted figure of Christ, with bowed head and a draped loincloth. Above, a finely worked halo adorns the intersection of the arms. The traditional INRI inscription completes the upper part of the cross. A special detail is the small depiction of Mary with Child at the bottom of the cross. The wide, richly decorated mantle and the dark relief give this image extra depth. Together with the figure of Christ, this makes the cross a meaningful devotional object with multiple focal points. The round base is built up of flowing, concentric steps. Its calm form contrasts nicely with the refined figures and the halo above. The metal shows a weathered surface with warm color variations and dark accents. A atmospheric collectible for lovers of religious art and devotional items. It also looks beautiful on a console, in a niche, or beside a home altar.
