Cross Plains, Texas. $10 1929 Ty. 1. Fr. 1801-1. Farmers NB. Charter #8583. PCGS Banknote Very Fine 25. Hailing from a community whose very name speaks to the rural expanses that account for much of the land area in Texas. Cross Plains in Callahan County may seem to some an unlikely spot for a National Bank, but between 1907 and 1931 it was your quintessential "one-bank town" served by the Farmers National Bank (Charter# 8583) which boasts a population of only just four non-institutional notes in the National Bank Note Census. Those pieces as one can expect are seldom ever traded and this evenly circulated T1 $10 is only the second of its type to be offered in a public setting since May 2005. Held together with recent blockbuster bidding sessions for rare Texas Nationals issued under the Series of 1929, bidders are advised that this opportunity is one not to be missed like the mid-grade T1 $20 that sold in our Summer 2026 Global Showcase Auction (Lot 21196) which readily commanded the interest of bidders a few months back. PCGS Banknote comments "Stained." Estimate: $1,500 - $2,500. Provenance: From the Jack Copeland Currency Collection, Part IV. Click here for certification details from PCGS Banknote.
