Credenza - Wood, Bronze, Brass - Louis XV side table

Elegant living room side table (table de salon or chiffonnière) made in the Louis XV style and dating from the late nineteenth century (Napoleon III period / Eclecticism). The piece features the typical bewitching and refined silhouette of the period, characterized by slender and graceful cabriole legs joined at the bottom by a practical, shaped spacer shelf. The surface is embellished with a refined parquetry and geometric inlay in floral and ornamental motifs in contrasting precious woods (such as rosewood, bois de rose or walnut). The decorative details are highlighted by gold-plated bronze or bronze-bronze appliques and mounts, finely chased, placed on the uprights and on the feet in the shape of curled foliage. Equipped with a central front drawer centered by a contemporaneous and functional bronze handle. Condition: The piece needs restoration, ideal for antique dealers or enthusiasts. The antique structure is solid, stable and firmly attached; the drawer and runners are sound, free of major structural chips or sagging. An aesthetic superficial restoration (spirits wax/polish) is necessary to revive the natural wood tones and correct the normal opacities and bloom of the varnish due to time. Era: Late 19th Century (circa 1880-1900) Style: Louis XV / Transition Dimensions: Small cabinet with drawer: height 69 cm, width 45 cm and depth 35 cm. Weight about 5 kg.
