Provenance: Baron Léon de Pitteurs Hugaerts d'Ordange His sale, Galerie Fievez, Brussels, 14 December 1927, lot 33 (as Cornelis Decker and Adriaen van Ostade) Douwes Fine Art, Amsterdam Sale, Sotheby's, London, Old Master Paintings, 12 December 1990, lot 86 (where catalogued as 'with possible trace of a monogram, lower centre') Sale, Sotheby's, London, Old Master Paintings, 30 October 1997, lot 223 Sale, Christie's, London, Old Master Paintings & Sculpture Online, 18 June - 9 July 2021, lot 195 Condition Report: The canvas has been relined and exhibits subtle craquelure. Examination under UV light reveals scattered retouching in the darker pigments of the greenery, as well as in the sky. Such retouching has been carried out professionally and blends well with the surrounding paintwork. The largest area of restoration is located on the basket beside the figure. Overall, the canvas appears to be in good, restored condition.
