ice framed artwork. Stamp Atelier Corneille on the back. Gouache and marker on a red lithographic base. Work signed and dated bottom right, "épreuve d'essai" (trial print). Dimensions inside the mat window: 46 x 35 cm. Dimensions with frame: 59 x 48 cm. Delivered with an authenticity certificate from the Guillaume Corneille Foundation. The work Turbulence of the Summer is referenced under Donkersloot's catalog raisonné number 235 with color variations. The lithographic base was issued in only a few copies in the years 1968 and 1969. In Corneille's work, the starry sky is often a reference to his fellow countryman Vincent Van Gogh. The years 1967 and 1968 mark for the Cobra painter a moment of transition between abstraction and figuration, now oriented toward the codes of Pop Art and Street Art by adopting a clear, graphic line. Original work by painter Guillaume Corneille (1922-2010), a painter born to Dutch parents, founding member of the Cobra group with Asger Jorn, Karel Appel, Constant, Dotremont, Alechinski and Jacques Doucet among others.
