Coran - 5 feuillets Coran

Ancient manuscript Quran – 5 simple sheets double-sided – 10 handwritten pages Originating from a Quran on detached loose sheets. 17 cm × 12 cm. Probable period: second half of the 17th century, 1st half of the 19th century. Circa 1750–1850.. 5 simple sheets handwritten recto-verso, i.e. 10 handwritten pages, originating from the same ancient Arabic Quran manuscript kept in detachable sheets. The set originates from part of a Quran (juzʾ) and contains several identifiable surahs. The Quranic text is copied in Arabic in a large, regular and highly legible calligraphy in black ink, abundantly vocalized and punctuated with auxiliary signs. Titles and indications related to the surahs are rubricated in red-orange ink, as are some reading and separation signs. The written surface is bounded by a multi-ruled polychrome manuscript frame, mainly red-orange and black, with occasionally a blue-green line. Decorative changes of surahs are particularly ornate, their title, traditional classification and number of verses may be written in red before the basmala, بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. The sheets were enclosed in a cover (a binding type) after the sheets with an old catalog card in Arabic that allows documenting their identification and chronological attribution. It bears notably: اسم الكتاب : جزء من القرآن الكريم Ism al-kitāb: Juzʾ min al-Qurʾān al-Karīm A part of the Noble Qur’an. The field reserved for the scribe’s name (اسم الكاتب) is not filled. The card then indicates, تاريخ الكتابة : القرن العاشر الهجري Tārīkh al-kitāba: al-qarn al-ʿāshir al-hijrī Date of copying: 10th century AH. Set of 5 manuscript sheets from an ancient Quran, presenting different passages of the Qur’anic text. Beautiful Arabic calligraphy of the naskh type, executed in black ink, with rubrication and calligraphic elements in red. Text carefully arranged within a double red and black frame. Several sheets show the end of one surah and the beginning of the next, with titled rubric and the traditional formula. “Bismillāh al-Raḥmān al-Raḥīm” “In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.” Notably, passages from Surahs Al-Ḥāqqa (69) and Al-Maʿārij (70) are recognizable. Old paper with some signs of use, small stains and marginal perforations from the old binding. *Conservation advice, as it is very fragile. Keep flat No direct light Stable hygrometry: 50–55% Temperature ~ 18–21°C Never moisten → immediate loss Very rare. Photos are an integral part of the description.
