Collection of 13 Catholic devotional objects (13) - Bronze

Collection of Popular Religious Art – Cast Copper, Modernist Crucifix, Bonfol Stoneware, Holy Benitiers, Ancient Rosaries & Travel Medals (13 pieces) Magnificent set of 13 objects of piety, devotion, and Christian popular art from the 20th century. This very complete lot combines signatures of renowned artisans, souvenirs from European great sanctuaries (Lourdes, Banneux) and a superb diversity of materials (bronze, wood, porcelain, enamelled stoneware, patinated metals). Ideal for collectors or lovers of sacred art. Details of included pieces: 1. Large wall plate in repoussé copper – “The Angelus” by Jean-François Millet • Provenance: Handcrafted by metalworker M. Belalande in Villedieu-les-Poêles (France) – Original gold label on the back ("Médaille d'Or Paris"). • Dimensions & Weight: Diameter 37.5 cm | Weight 590 g. • Condition: Good condition, superb patina, with suspension ring. • Historical note on the work: The relief on this plate reproduces Millet’s absolute masterpiece painted between 1857 and 1859. The work illustrates a deep Christian tradition of rural France: at sunset, as the church bell tolls in the distance, a farming couple pauses their hard potato harvest to bow their heads and join their hands in reciting the Angelus, the greeting prayer celebrating the Incarnation. It is one of the most powerful and universal symbols of folk Christian art and the rural world of yesteryear. 2. Eucharistic benitier in enamelled stoneware (Swiss Art) • Artist/Origin: Stamped on the back by master ceramicist Felicitas Holzgang in Bonfol (Switzerland). • Iconography: Paleo-Christian symbols (INRI, Ichthys fish, chalice and ears of wheat). Blue-purple flame enamel. • Dimensions & Weight: 14 x 15 cm | Weight 290 g. • Condition: Very good condition, enamel very bright, no chips. 3. Modernist wall crucifix in Brutalist style • Description: Bronze Christ with a dark, matte patina, mounted on a minimalist light wood cross. Highly expressive graphic style from the 1960s. • Dimensions & Weight: 24 x 22 cm | Weight 254 g. • Condition: Very good wear condition, solid mount, original wall hanger on back. 4. Statue “Saint Francis of Assisi” in alabaster-style resin • Artist/Origin: Inscribed in relief "L. TONI" on the base by Italian sculptor Luigi Toni (Italy, circa 1970s/1980s). • Iconography: Saint Francis caressing a lamb. Ivory-like aged appearance. • Dimensions & Weight: Height 15.5 cm (Base 10 x 5 cm) | Weight 340 g. • Historical note on the saint: Saint Francis of Assisi (1181–1226) is one of Christianity’s most loved figures. Founder of the Order of Friars Minor (Franciscans), he chose to live in total poverty and fraternity. Renowned for his unconditional love of Creation, he regarded animals as his brothers and sisters and preached the divine word to them. The figurine shows him here with a lamb, symbolizing gentleness, purity, and evangelical innocence. Today recognized as the patron saint of animals and ecology, his iconography embodies peace and respect for nature. 5. Polychrome benitier in alabaster resin – Virgin and Child • Provenance: Christian art workshop in Italy (original gold label on the back). Hand-painted. Supplied with its beaded chain and decorative tassels from the original set. • Dimensions & Weight: Height 16 cm | Weight 270 g. 6.
