Coarse smoky quartz with orthoclase Crystals on matrix...

From our selection of collectible minerals we present a large crystal of smoky quartz with orthoclase from Cuasso al Monte, in Lombardy. Moreover, it is characterized by a prismatic habit finished with a brown-grey coloration typical of smoked quartz, enriched by inclusions and pinkish patinas of orthoclase that create a pleasant chromatic contrast on the crystal faces, elements that increase its aesthetic value and mineralogical importance. The specimen stands out for the quality of crystallization and for the overall aesthetic balance, with features that enhance its natural structure and visual impact. The brown-grey color of smoky quartz is due to color centers tied to traces of aluminum in the crystal lattice, activated over time by exposure to natural radiation present in the enclosing rocks. Cuasso al Monte, in the Prealps of Varese, is a historic locality for Lombard collectors, known for pegmatitic and vein cavities inside granitic rocks that have yielded beautiful associations of smoky quartz with feldspars such as orthoclase. Orthoclase, a potassium feldspar with the formula KAlSi3O8, often crystallizes together with quartz in the final consolidation phases of granitic and pegmatitic rocks. This is an ideal specimen for mineral collections, display, and for those who appreciate the natural beauty of minerals, also in the context of crystal therapy and lithotherapy, according to the properties traditionally associated with the mineral species. All minerals are 100% natural and untreated, except for very rare exceptions always indicated in the description. Photographs are taken with professional lighting to best enhance colors and details; however, slight tonal variations may occur depending on the device or ambient light.
