Circular Ebony Box with Porcupine Quills Supported by four carved elephants Ceylon (Sri Lanka) or India – Anglo-Indian style Of rare elegance and a commanding presence, this exceptional circular box embodies the refinement of Anglo-Indian craftsmanship. Made from dense, jet-black ebony, it rests on four finely carved elephants, with light ivory tusks, a symbol of strength, wisdom, and prosperity. The body of the box is adorned with vertical rows of porcupine quills, arranged with remarkable precision, creating a subtle interplay of textures and light between the box’s absolute black and the natural cream and amber hues of the quills. Discrete bone inlays outline the contours and add a touch of delicate refinement. The lid, slightly domed and encircled by concentric rings, fits perfectly, revealing a piece that is as functional as it is purely decorative. This piece, originally intended for British colonial residences, gracefully blends the exotism of precious materials with the technical mastery of workshops in Ceylon or India. A distinguished collectible item, perfect for enhancing a contemporary or classic interior. Images are part of the description. Delivery to a pick-up point. NO SHIPMENTS OUTSIDE EU
