The company is known for having introduced electroplating of gold and silver in France in 1842. The company was acquired in 2012 by one of its shareholders, the Chalhoub family luxury group. The House of Christofle employs an entirely hand-made production following traditional techniques. The precious crafts of turning and repoussé, planing, chasing, and engraving, continued by its Master Silversmiths and Best Craftsmen of France, immortalize the qualities of elegance and excellence of all Christofle pieces. It is this irreplaceable human know-how, perpetuated by highly skilled artisans.
