Christofle is a French silversmithing and tableware company, founded in Paris in 1830 by Charles Christofle. The company is known for having introduced electroplated gilding and silvering in France in 1842. The company was acquired in 2012 by one of its shareholders, the luxury group of the Chalhoub family. Maison Christofle relies on production that is entirely handmade following traditional techniques. The precious crafts of turning-repoussé, planishing, chasing, engraving, which are perpetuated by its Master Silversmiths and Meilleurs Ouvriers de France, immortalize the qualities of elegance and excellence of all Christofle pieces. This is the irreplaceable human know-how continued by highly qualified artisans.
