Chinese funerary ornament in jade, Eastern Zhou Period

Descriptio Rectangular funerary ornament decorated with a stylized Taotie-type mask, with a beautiful antique patina ranging from olive green to dark brown, showing signs of weathering and natural veining visible in the light. The plaque is perforated in the center by an old, lateral, biconical hole, and the entire decoration is made by fine, regular incisions with a lithic abrasive, a technique characteristic of archaic jades. Nephrite jade with incised decoration. China. Eastern Zhou period. 770–475 BC. 6 x 4.5 cm. Lot in international warehouse (within the EU). Intra-EU shipment: no import duties apply within the EU. Export permit from the country of origin may be required. Due to its age and history of use, this lot may show signs of wear and previous interventions. Unless explicitly stated otherwise, no specialized technical testing has been performed. The absence of any mention of restorations does not guarantee that none exist.
