Chinese Famille Rose Porcelain Vase, Peach and Bat Motif on Gilt Ground

Chinese famille rose porcelain vase of tall baluster form, rising from a slightly recessed foot to rounded shoulders and a gently flaring neck. The exterior is richly decorated with flowering and fruiting peach branches extending around the body, bearing large ripe peaches in shaded pink, crimson, and pale yellow enamels among turquoise and green foliage and clusters of pink blossoms. Iron-red bats appear in flight among the branches, forming an auspicious composition traditionally associated with longevity, happiness, and good fortune. The decoration is reserved against a finely patterned gilt ground with a subtle incised or painted diaper texture. The mouth is bordered with a narrow scrolling band, while the foot is encircled by a turquoise Greek-key border between fine iron-red lines. The interior is glazed white. The underside bears an underglaze-blue seal-form mark. Dimensions: 8"W x 16.5"H Weight: 8 lbs. Condition Request Condition Report Good
