CHINA. Silver 50 Cents Pattern, Year 3 (1911). Tientsin Mint. Hsuan-t'ung

Commendable Pattern Issue with Incredibly Rendered Coiled Dragon CHINA. Silver 50 Cents Pattern, Year 3 (1911). Tientsin Mint. Hsuan-t'ung (Xuantong [Puyi]). PCGS Genuine--Cleaned, AU Details. L&M-39; K-228; KM-Y-30; WS-0047; Wenchao-121 (rarity: ★★★). Variety with incuse swirl on fiery pearl. Though lightly cleaned as noted, this charming example of a VERY RARE type doesn't display much in the way of any actual wear, with a good deal of gunmetal gray toning re-emerging. This aspect intensifies as one approaches the peripheries, with a particularly dark area of iridescence at the top of the characters side. Exceptionally enthralling and engaging, with the dragon seemingly springing to life before one's eyes, contorting itself around the denomination and within the constraints of the border. Estimate: $30,000 - $50,000. Provenance: From the MC Collection (陳氏家族集藏). To view all items from the MC Collection (陳氏家族集藏), click here. Click here for certification details from PCGS.
