Wondrous 5 Mace Pattern Restrike of Kuang-hsu CHINA. Silver 5 Mace Pattern Restrike, "CD (1906)" (ca. early 20th Century). Tientsin Mint. Kuang-hsu (Guangxu). PCGS SPECIMEN-62. L&M-17A; cf. K-935 (no distinction made between originals & restrikes); cf. KM-Pn299 (same); cf. WS-0022 (same). A VERY RARE and exceedingly enticing pattern issue, this offering presents a tremendous overall appearance. Despite its restrike nature, which can be observed in the somewhat sandblasted aspect of the surfaces that emanates from subtle die rust, this fractional Tael denomination abounds with opulent luster, all while a hint of olive-russet toning pairs rather seamlessly with the gunmetal gray backdrop. A fantastic rendition that should no doubt generate tremendous enthusiasm and interest. Estimate: $30,000 - $45,000. Provenance: From the MC Collection (陳氏家族集藏).
