CHINA. Kiangnan. Copper 2 Cash Pattern, CD (1906). Nanking Mint. Kuang-hsu

An Exceptional 2 Cash Rarity from Kiangnan Possibly the Finest Known of Just Three Specimens CHINA. Kiangnan. Copper 2 Cash Pattern, CD (1906). Nanking Mint. Kuang-hsu (Guangxu). PCGS MS-62 Brown. KM-Pn3; CL-KN.42. Though not holdered as such, this exceptional Cash issue stands as an EXTREMELY RARE and virtually unobtainable pattern issue. While attributed on the holder as CL-KN.41, it is the opinion of this cataloger that the present piece is rather CL-KN.42. As such it is a die match to the Åke Lindén/Dr. Norman Jacobs specimen--the only other such example of the type to have traded in recent memory. Of note, the Linden/Jacobs piece, which last realized a hammer of $32,000 [!] in April 2014, resides behind the present lot, being assessed as MS-61 Brown as the one other representative in the PCGS census. A wondrous and most magnificent opportunity for the advanced collectors of Chinese copper RARITIES, with this piece likely representing just the third example seen. Estimate: $20,000 - $40,000.
