The Imperial Bank was one of the first modern banks in China to issue banknotes, starting in 1898. Its designs quickly became popular as they featured Caishen, the God of Wealth, which is very auspicious. Qing era notes are challenging to find, let alone the high denominations, and we are pleased to offer this progressive proof for collectors. Very rare. Selvage included.
