Alluring Yuan Shih-kai Gold 10 Dollars with Ornate Draconic Border CHINA. 10 Dollars, Year 8 (1919). Tientsin Mint. PCGS MS-61. L&M-1030; Fr-5; K-1531; KM-Y-330; WS-0059. An inviting Mint State example of a VERY RARE type, this enticing specimen features golden-yellow hues throughout, with the coloring intensifying nearer the borders and devices. Pleasingly struck and preserved, this RARITY should generate a tremendous degree of enthusiasm on account of its many accolades. The obverse displays the fairly recognizable left-facing bust of Yuan Shih-kai, while the reverse recounts the date and denomination above and within a wreath. Upon both sides, an intriguing border envelops the central devices. While appearing at first glance merely as a scroll-like pattern, further focus reveals a stylized right-facing dragon head, with a flame rising over its snout. Estimate: $30,000 - $45,000.
