Chile - Kingdom of Chile; Instituto Geográfico Militar...

An exceptional collectible work published by the Military Geographical Institute (IGM) in Santiago, Chile, in 1981. This large-format volume (large folio, approx. 40 x 60 cm) constitutes one of the country’s most important compilations of historical cartography. The project was directed by Carlos Carvallo Yáñez, with the notable historical guidance and writings by the renowned historian, architect, and Benedictine priest Gabriel Guarda. The aim of this monumental project was to rescue and safeguard a valuable cartographic legacy that was scattered in archives difficult to access, both national and foreign (including valuable maps from Seville and Madrid).
