He became famous for his uncompromising defense, his extraordinary rebounding strength, and his eccentric appearance with changing hair colors and striking style. Despite a comparatively modest scoring output, Rodman had a tremendous impact on games and was considered a specialist in defensive work. During his career he played for the Detroit Pistons, the San Antonio Spurs, the Chicago Bulls, the Los Angeles Lakers, and the Dallas Mavericks. His greatest successes came with the Detroit Pistons (“Bad Boys”) and later with the Chicago Bulls alongside Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen. Dennis Rodman won a total of five NBA championships (1989, 1990, 1996, 1997, and 1998), was twice NBA Defensive Player of the Year (1990 and 1991), and led the NBA in rebounds per game for seven consecutive years. He was also twice an NBA All-Star, twice named to the All-NBA Third Team, seven times selected to the NBA All-Defensive First Team, and once to the NBA All-Defensive Second Team. In 2011 he was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. Rodman remains one of the best defenders and rebounders of all time and one of the most sparkling personalities in the history of basketball even today.
