Because of his powerful shot and speed, he earned the nickname "The Golden Jet." Hull revolutionized offensive play with his hard shot and was one of the most dominant forwards in hockey for many years. He spent the majority of his career with the Chicago Black Hawks (today Chicago Blackhawks), before switching to the World Hockey Association (WHA) in the 1970s and playing for the Winnipeg Jets. Toward the end of his career, he also played for the Hartford Whalers. With the Chicago Black Hawks, Hull won the Stanley Cup in 1961; he also led the Winnipeg Jets to three AVCO World Trophy titles in the WHA. Among his greatest personal achievements are 12 NHL All-Star nominations, winning the Hart Memorial Trophy as the league's most valuable player (1965 and 1966), three Art Ross Trophies as the league's top scorer (1960, 1962, and 1966), and three times the Lady Byng Trophy for sportsmanship and fair play.
