Charoite – Necklace - Christian Art - Medieval Cross - Faith

Charoïte – Necklace - Christian Art - Medieval Cross - Faith, Vigilance and Inner Light This necklace inspired by medieval Christian art is made with natural charoite stone, and is adorned with 63 cube-shaped beads with softened corners and faceted edges, offering a sequence of geometric surfaces that gently catch the light. The stones reveal a color palette ranging from deep violet to nuanced mauve, interwoven with lighter marbling, lilac tones, and dark areas almost purple. Their slightly cloudy appearance and natural variations give each bead a unique character. The piece is punctuated with intermediate golden round beads, ribbed and faceted. Their regular arrangement underlines the contours of the stones and creates a bright contrast. At the center of the necklace sits a golden medieval Latin cross, finely worked, evoking the traditions of medieval Christian art. Its four arms, with slightly flared ends and highlighted by raised borders, feature a succession of geometric motifs, friezes, and meticulously crafted interlacing. The central part particularly attracts the eye with its symmetrical decoration, organized around a lozenge-shaped motif suggesting an eye surrounded by volutes and engravings. This representation can be symbolically interpreted as a spiritual gaze, associated with vigilance, inner consciousness, and the light of faith. The motifs running along the cross branches extend this composition with a crisscrossing line play, chevrons, and raised details, reminiscent of the aesthetics of antique-inspired jewelry workmanship.
