Cave Hyena - Fossil tooth - Crocuta crocuta spelaea (No reserve price)

For bidding comes an exceptionally well-preserved fossil from the Pleistocene: an original, outer incisor (I3) from the right mandible ramus of a Ice Age cave hyena (Crocuta crocuta spelaea). The tooth comes from the famous karst cave systems of the Bihor region in Romania, which are renowned worldwide for their spectacular Ice Age faunal finds. This exhibit stands out for its remarkable preservation. The crown shows the typically robust enamel of carnivorous apex predators of the Ice Age. The coloration is beautifully mineralized and shifts between gray-olive tones at the crown and warm, earthy brown tones at the fully preserved tooth root.
