Todas las subastas / Arte contemporáneo / Carola Castro - “Little Bee”
Carola Castro Art between the past and the present. Contemporary Painting - Madrid I begin this work from the cubist construction of the background, always as a starting point referencing Picasso, and I mix it with a universe of signs, shapes and symbols from Miró’s language. It isn’t about copying either of them, but putting them in conversation and discovering what happens when their languages pass through my own gaze. Two universes. Two languages. The same figure. My own gaze. Carola Castro is an artist based in Madrid whose painting arises from the dialogue between tradition and contemporaneity. Her language starts from a fascination with the history of art and with artists such as Picasso, Matisse, Manolo Valdés and Miró, but she does not seek to reproduce them; she reinterpret their codes from a personal perspective. One of the elements that defines her work is the use of antique frames. For Carola Castro, the frame is not a secondary element; it is part of the artwork. “I’m interested in a work that seems as if it had a life before arriving to us.” Original acrylic on paper, glass and passepartout. Sold perfectly framed. All works are sent with *CUSTOM PACKAGING FOR EACH PIECE. THE SHIPPING COST IS HIGHER TO SHIP A PERFECTLY FRAMED PIECE. * SOLD WITH FRAME. * READY TO HANG! WITH GLASS! Dimensions of the framed piece: 63x82x5 You can follow my work on Instagram: htpps: //www.instagram.com/carolinacastro.arte/ I strive to move within the action of reinventing cubism by giving it a contemporary feel. I regularly access parameters I consider recurring, such as the constant assimilation of images from the past, the play with others’ language, focusing on old and modern painters. I feel the sensation of a constant plunge into the interior of history. My study and research of the cubist movement, especially the entire extensive trajectory of Picasso, take me to unknown territories. In each painting I try to revisit the problems and solutions that Picasso posed with cubism. To me, cubism is a very important pictorial movement within the history of art. “CAROLA CASTRO”.
