Caldwell, New York. A. Larkin, Commodore of Lake George & Governor of Diamond Island. 1814 25 Cents. PCGS Banknote Very Fine 20 Details. Edge Splits, Backed, Small Pieces Missing. Satirical Note. An enigmatic item from Upstate New York contemporary to the War of 1812. This note is nonetheless listed as a "Satirical Note" by PCGS Banknote, but bears a strong resemblance to a piece of period scrip that would have circulated amidst period cash shortages. Here viewers are met with a crude vignette depicting a glass alongside a cask of liquor while the guarantee makes reference to a "QUARTER CASK."
